Things you will need
- White pumpkin
- Gold metallic paint
- Wire
- Modeling clay
- Glue
- Paper
- Thin wooden dowel
- Hot glue
- Carving tools
Direction for making
- Twist the iron wire in circular shape to form wheels. To give them an authentic wheel look, make spokes as well by twisting the wire across the diameter. To keep the spokes in place, either tie them together or use clay. The front wheels should be smaller than the rear wheels.
- These wheel structures will be very thin and to give them a thicker look, cover the wires with modeling clay.
- Once the modeling clay dries, cover the wheels with paper mache in order to make them stronger. You may avoid this step if you don’t want to mess up with glue and paper but covering with paper mashe will make your wheels look sturdier and thicker.
- After the wheels have completely dried, spray paint them using golden paint.
- Measure the width of the pumpkin right at the place where you will be inserting the dowels for resting the wheels. Cut the wooden dowels accordingly and paint them using the gold paint.
- Scoop out the pumpkin and use the carving tool to carve out the windows for the carriage.
- Paint the outlines of the windows with gold paint.
- Insert the dowels in the pumpkin and hot glue the wheels on them.
- Light up a candle and place it inside the pumpkin. Bingo! Your pumpkin carriage centerpiece is ready to adorn your child’s Cinderella birthday party table.
