Want to make some cute toadstool for your tiny tot? Well here is a short DIY tutorial for you to try your hands on and you can infuse more color and comfort in your child’s playroom.
Supplies needed:
- Tree Trunks- Approximately (5cm diameter & 55 cm height)
- Stools- Approximately 30 cm by 35 cm (diameter & height respectively)
- Circle Wood for tabletop (45 cm diameter by 2 cm thickness, 30 cm diameter by 0.5 cm thickness)
- Linseed Oil or flaxseed oil-
- Long nails-
- Hammer-
- Paint brush
- Chalkboard Paint
- Polka dot fabric (any fabric of your choice)
- Stuffing
- Cloth
- Staple Gun
Steps to follow:
- 1. I got the tree trunks from a nearby wood carpenter; luckily they had already been cut to the size I was satisfied with so it called for less preparation.
- 2. For making table top, I carefully placed circular wood over the tallest tree trunk. Once you are okay with the position then hammer 2 or 3 long nails to the middle of the wood to ensure wood is perfectly attach to the trunk.
- 3. Next, step is to sand the wood and paint it using chalkboard paint. Paint it once then let it dry for an hour or two then repeat the coat. I preferred a chalkboard surface as my little one often gets creative with chalk.
- 4. Now for the seating, use the other circular wood that is 30 cm by 0.5. Place it at the center of the smaller tree trunks and nail it.
- 5. Then place the stuffing atop of the wood and then fabric over it. Next step is to flip the trunk over & staple the fabric around the word to create a seating.
- 6. Rub each trunk with linseed oil using a dry cloth. This will ensure trunks are sealed.
